What is a Home Inspector?
A home inspector is a qualified, licensed and/or certified professional that performs an inspection either for the purchase, sale or maintenance of residential real estate. The inspector identifies “material defects” which are conditions that affect the value, habitability and safety of a residential building in accordance with state laws and standards of practice. The home inspector creates a Home Inspection Report for a Client’s reference and record of conditions found at the time of the inspection.
What Does a Home Inspector Do?
A home inspector visually evaluates a property’s accessible mechanical components, electrical, plumbing and basic structural systems. The inspector explains findings and answers questions. Photographs and collects information during the inspection that will be documented in the Client’s report. In short, the inspector serves as the Client’s real estate technical advisor!
Owner and Principal Inspector, Steve Bayly is a member of the national American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and the largest New Jersey Association of Licensed Professional Home Inspectors (NJ-ALPHI). He is a member of community organizations including the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, Hunterdon County Network Associates and the Clinton Township Historical Commission.
